“Pythagoreanism” Project / Creative Direction, Art Direction and Design by Konstantinos Athan / Location: Thessaloniki - Greece / Hosted by Mylos Club Thessaloniki

Each piece in this collection is unique, created exclusively for this project. The textiles and velvet used were carefully sourced from picturesque villages in northern Greece. These traditional handwoven fabrics were crafted on manual looms by local artisans, with origins dating back to the mid-1800s. After being collected, the textiles were meticulously measured, cut, and sewn to create these distinctive works of art.

Pythagoreanism originated in the 6th century BC, based on and around the teachings and beliefs held Pythagoras and his followers, the Pythagoreans. Pythagoras established the first Pythagorean community in the ancient Greek colony of Kroton, in modern Calabria (Italy) circa 530 BC. Early Pythagorean communities spread throughout Magna Graecia. ​I​t was a religious and philosophical movement ​,​ which emphasized reincarnation (metempsychosis), the mystical significance of numbers, and a life of asceticism and ethical conduct.

“Embrace the Greek Silk” is a project created to revive and celebrate Greece’s rich cultural heritage in the art of fine silk. It highlights the region of Soufli, located in the eastern part of the country—once an important trading center and a key stop along the historic Silk Road that connected Greece with the Middle East.

Each piece in this collection is unique, created exclusively for this project. The collection includes nine distinct designs, all handmade from 100% Greek silk produced in Soufli.
